Here's the information you need to begin promoting...

Please note: Our new website, www.unitywalkgso.com, is the central home for all our information and resources, including where eager participants can RSVP and stay up to date on important event details. It will also be a place for us to share resources on voting rights and how to vote and share other supporting information. Big thanks to Danilo Vargas and our Media Working Group for the work on the new website. Please send us any information you think we should showcase there.

Here is a sample description of the event:

🗳️ Every voice. Every vote. Let's walk together.

On Sunday, October 25, more than twenty Greensboro organizations working on immigrant justice, health care, workers' rights, racial justice, affordability, environmental justice, and voting rights will walk to early voting side by side. We'd love for you to walk with us!

📍 2:00 PM: Gather at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 901 E. Friendly Ave.
Speakers, the Community Gospel Choir, the Grimsley High School Blue Steel Drumline, and giant butterfly puppets from Paperhand Puppet Intervention will send us off in style.

🚶🏽‍♀️ Then we walk nine-tenths of a mile to the early voting site at the old Guilford County Courthouse, 301 W. Market St. There, information tables from our endorsing organizations, a Kids Mock Voting Booth, and music from the Ragin' Grannies and Singing Resistance will fill the lawn.

This is a multicultural, interfaith, nonpartisan event, and everyone is welcome. No registration is required, but please register at unitywalkgso.com so we can plan for accessibility and shuttles. Carpooling is encouraged, and as needed shuttles will bring walkers back to the church after the program.

Bring your family, your neighbors, and your congregation. Let's show Greensboro what unity looks like. 💛

Possible language for your social media posts:

Our coalition unites more than 23 organizations working on voting rights, civil rights, immigrant justice, workers' rights, health care, environmental justice, affordability, and more. These are not separate causes competing for attention but one struggle. The same forces that suppress the vote also suppress wages, deny health care, and target immigrant families. When we stand together, we win together. In the spirit of Fannie Lou Hamer's "Nobody's free until everybody's free" and labor's "An injury to one is an injury to all," we build solidarity and send people to the polls, knowing they're voting for one another.

E-mail Promotional Campaign

The following three email messages are ready for you to copy, paste, edit and send

As we work to promote the Unity Walk to the Polls, email marketing is perhaps our most important communication channel.

Your email subscribers trust you and look forward to your emails. As a result, they're more likely to act if they receive an email message from you inviting them to join this historic community action.

But crafting persuasive emails takes a lot of time and effort and we know you’re extremely busy.

That’s why the Unity Walk’s Media Working Group has worked hard to create a 3-part E-mail marketing campaign with everything you need to send three different emails to your subscribers.

The materials below include the following:

  • Suggested send dates and times (the first one is this Sunday).
  • Suggested Subject Lines (tested to increase open rates)
  • Accompanying graphics
  • Full text for each message

Unity Walk: Help us champion the change we need now

Dear (First Name),

Something beautiful and historic will be happening soon in Greensboro.

And you, your family, and friends are invited to be a part of it!

It’s called The Unity Walk to the Polls.

Register now on Mobilize.
Or register now on Eventbrite.

On Sunday, October 25, from 2 to 5 pm, our community is coming together like never before. Organizations working on immigrant justice, health care, workers' rights, racial justice, affordability, voting rights, and more, will walk side by side to early voting.

We’ll gather at 2 pm at the Epicospal Church of the Redeemer, at 901 East Friendly Avenue, and after an opening program, we’ll walk nine-tenths of a mile to the early voting site at the Old Guilford County Courthouse at 301 West Market Street.

We’ll be walking for the change we need and doing so in a fun, joyful and energizing way, perfect for the whole family!

The Unity Walk will open with a program on the church grounds featuring inspirational keynote speakers, the Community Gospel Choir, and giant butterfly puppets from Paperhand Puppet Intervention. Then, the Grimsley High School Blue Steel Drum line (20-member strong) will see us off in festive fashion.

But that’s not all!

At the courthouse, the Raging Grannies and Singing Resistance will perform, and endorsing organizations will host information tables. Children can even take part at a Kids Mock Voting Booth. And eligible residents who aren't yet registered to vote can register and vote on site that same day.

This multicultural, interfaith event is free and open to the public.

And while registration is not strictly required, it is strongly encouraged, as is carpooling. A limited number of shuttles will return walkers to the starting point.

What makes the Unity Walk truly special is the coalition behind it: people championing different causes, many of whom rarely share the stage, now coming together to encourage solidarity and civic engagement.

So if you agree that we need change, and that the best and most powerful thing we can do right now is vote.

Come walk with us on October 25th.

Register now on Mobilize.
Or register now on Eventbrite.

We hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

(Sender First Name)

Beat hopelessness and how to regain our power, right now

Dear (First Name),

We need change in our country.

But the challenge before us seems so daunting at times, even frightening. Honestly, it seems far easier to look away, to do nothing, to draw back and hope for the best.

Fortunately, we can do far more than just hope.

We can unite to rekindle our sense of agency. We can heed the wise words of Archbishop Desmond Tutu who once urged his followers to:

Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.

Well, good news!

We have a beautiful opportunity to do our little bit of good, together, right here in Greensboro.

It’s called The Unity Walk to the Polls:

Twenty-three interfaith, civic, and civil rights organizations joining forces to organize an early-voting walk to the Polls on Sunday, October 25, from 2 to 5 PM, beginning at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 901 E. Friendly Ave.

Register now on Mobilize.
Or register now on Eventbrite.

This multicultural, interfaith event is free and open to the public.

It’s our chance to do our little bit of good right here in our community, with our neighbors.

Far from powerless, together we can indeed overwhelm the world.

Will you join us?
